Nutrition support for disordered eating & body image
Individual & family-based consultations
I am extremely passionate about supporting individuals to achieve a healthy relationship with food and their body. This passion has stemmed from my own experience with disordered eating, the impact it had on every aspect of my life and how immensely better EVERYTHING felt once I healed. You can read more about my experience here. My passion has continued to grow with every young person, family and adult I have supported to achieve the same over the last few years.
I have been recognised as a Credential Eating Disorder Clinician through the Australia & New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders. This credentialing system was developed to “recognise qualifications, knowledge, training, and professional development activities needed to meet minimum standards for the delivery of safe and effective eating disorders treatment.” It allows individuals to identify specialised services to support them in healing their relationship with food and their body.
I work with people of all ages, genders, cultures and sexualities. Everybody in every body is welcome.
Sessions can be individual or family-based, depending on the needs of the client. This service is suited to anyone with a diagnosis of binge eating disorder, anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, ARFID, OSFED or UFED. Additionally anyone who engages in disordered eating behaviours, has disordered thoughts about food or their body, has poor body image or body dysmorphia. Basically, if you want to feel more normal around food and neutral about your body instead of being consumed by body weight/shape/size and diet culture, this service is for you.
Unsure if this is you? The Eating Disorder Examination questionnaire can help identify if you need support https://insideoutinstitute.org.au/resource-library/eating-disorder-examination-questionnaire-ede-q. If you would like to discuss your score, contact me and I’ll be more than happy to help. You can book a free 15 minute phone consult to identify what support is right for you.
Treatment approach
My dietetic treatment approach differs depending on the individual, their eating disorder presentation and severity, supports available and engagement in other treatment. The most important and initial focus of treatment is to find a connection and build your trust. I aim to bring a lot of empathy and understanding to every session to create a safe, comfortable space to work through the challenges and achieve real food freedom and body neutrality. My personal experience with disordered eating combined with many, many hours of professional development have equipped me with the skillset to achieve this.
It is informed by the following approaches/models:
Non-diet approach
Body neutrality
Intuitive eating principles
HAES approach
Family-based therapy
Trauma-informed dietetic care
RAVES model
Cognitive behavioural therapy
Externalising the eating disorder
